Hiring: Part-Time Journalism Assistant

jm a freelance journalist, who has covered East and Southeast Asia for more than a decade, for outlets including Vox, Nikkei Asia, Financial Times, BBC Future, and elsewhere.

I'm looking for an assisant to help promote my articles, and also help pitch me as a guest for interviews or speaking opportunities at conferences, to mainstream media, and podcasts. This would be for both general stories, but also to publicize specific articles and or investigations, to media outlets and podcasts around the world but focused on Asia and the United States. 

This is a great position for students, someone starting off their career, or someone looking to get a taste of journalism. I usually tailor the tasks to meet the skills or desides of any assistant, as I want this to be a learning and growth opportunity.

Necessary skills
- Fluency writing in American English.
- Experience doing marketing, public relations, and pitching media outlets around the world. 
- Experience doing web research.

Ideal Skills
- Fluency writing in American English and one other Asian language (ideally Japanese, Mandarin Chinese or Indonesian)
- Basic social media management skills.
- Ability to manage communications and organize pitches using a basic CRM or database
- Interview and reporting skills
- Experience in non-profit or NGO sector.

Pay - Starting from 2000 JPY/$14 USD per hour, and more for special projects.

I write mostly on environment and human rights and want someone with a similar, socially conscious background. This is starting as a 3-5 hr/week position, but if it goes well, there are definitely opportunities to expand and do more work.
